The Eleventh Annual Black Rock Foothills Celebration will be held November 1-3. Most events will be held on Main Street or the Pecan Grove and Old Ball Diamond in Black Rock. Star Amusements the same carnival from the Lawrence County Fair will actually open the carnival on Halloween night.

Friday evening begins with check in for participating teams from noon to 8:00 p.m. for the first Squeal and Grill BBQ Cook Off. Organizers are Gary Meeks at 870-926-2279 and Pat Roby, Jr. at 870-926-8314. The Democratic Women are hosting a Ham and Bean Supper at the Community Center. Prices are adults, $5, ages 6-12, $3, 5 and under, free. Go cart races will begin at 6 at the Old Ball Diamond and a Gospel Singing will begin at 6:00 p.m. on the Main Street Downtown Stage. Featured groups are Faith Worship Center Singers, New Life Full Gospel Singers, and Angie Jones. Others interested in singing should contact Tommie Jean Richey at 870-878-1039. The carnival will also be open.

Saturday activities kick off with the Pancake Breakfast for $5.00 at the school cafeteria sponsored by the Black Rock Lions Club from 5:00-10:00 a.m. Hayrides from Main Street to the school will be available. A Car Show and Shine will be on Main Street from about 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There is a free lunch to all car show participants. Contact Bobby Pickney at 870-809-4067 for information. Vendors with food, crafts, books, jewelry, etc will be set up on Main Street from about 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The museum will also be open again this year. Opening ceremonies will begin at 10:00 a.m. Mr. and Mrs. Foothills will be announced at that time.

The Main Street Downtown Stage will feature the following: The Shaws, 10:00 a.m.; Dance Tyme Studio dancers, 11:30 a.m.; Scott DeJarnett & The Stormy Night Band, 1:00 p.m.; Danny Whitmire and Friends, 2:00 p.m.; J. R. Rogers & The All Stars, 4:00 p.m.; Lauren Richmond and Calamity Band, 5:30 p.m.; and Bottom of the Barrel Boys, 7:00 p.m.

A Duck Calling Contest hosted by Acoustic Duck Calls will start at 11:00 a.m. at the Old Ball Diamond/Black Rock Race Track. Categories are youth, open, and two man. Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. Information contacts are Chris Hill 870-740-0441 and Pat Roby, Jr. 870-926-8314.

The judging for the Squeal and Grill BBQ Cook Off will begin at noon.

A new event this year is the Great Pumpkin Race using a pumpkin with 2 axles and 4 wheels as the vehicle. This event is being conducted by Helping Unite Teens (HUT). Contact Heith Russell for information. The race will be held at 3:00 p.m. down Main Street. A 50/50 Draw is also being held to benefit HUT. Tickets are $1. The winner to be announced at 4:30 p.m. on the Downtown Stage will win one half of the gross ticket sales. You must be present to win.

Go cart races will also begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Black Rock Race Track at the Old Ball Diamond. The carnival which includes inflatables will also be open Saturday. There will also be a Quilt Show and Sale on Saturday at the Community Center.

Sunday events include a community singing at 11:00 a.m. on the Downtown Stage. The Black Rock Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a Buffet Luncheon at the fire department beginning at noon. Cost is $5. The weekend wraps up with a Skeet Shoot in the Pecan Bottoms at 2:30 p.m.
