The annual Polar Bear Plunge, a fundraiser for Special Olympics Arkansas, has be rescheduled from this Saturday, due to weather concerns.
The Plunge is now set for Feb. 17 in the Pocket Park, 315 E. Main Street.
Each year the Polar Bear Plunge raises funds that allow for sports programs for students with disabilities. Local students who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to participate in traditional sports programs are able to train, and then compete, through Special Olympics Arkansas.
Locals interested in supporting the event by Plunging can register ahead of time, or the day of the event. Participants raise money as a team or as an individual, Plungers are asked to raise $50 from sponsors.
Registration begins at 10 a.m.; awards and plunging are at 11 a.m. Plunging in costume is a popular option.
Updates and more information is available on the Main Street Batesville Facebook page, under the event page “2018 Polar Bear Plunge”.
