It’s dinner and a show – plus giveaways, auction items and much more. BUT REALLY!!!!! IT IS SO MUCH MORE!!! John 3:16 Ministries, a faith-based boot camp for men with drug and alcohol addictions, will present its 9th annual Variety Night fundraiser on Oct. 4 at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville’s Independence Hall. You will surely be greatly entertained, sumptuously fed, and have a good family atmosphere evening you will never forget!! Whether or not you are familiar with John 3:16 and its mission, I promise you will always remember this night! A catfish dinner with all the trimmings will be served at 5 pm, with a silent and live auction with Mooney Starr from 3-6 pm, and entertainment at 6:30. Aunt Minnie (Pat Cash) of Cash’s White River Hoedown in Mountain View will be the entertainer; this year’s theme is ’50s/’60s. Tickets are $10 and include automatic entry into the door prize drawing. Corporate tables (with a choice of fish and/or smoked turkey) are available for $400. This year the prize will be a 2006 PT Cruiser donated by Stanley Wood and Scott Wood dealerships. The winner does not have to be present to win but must be at least 21. Throughout the night attendees will have the chance to bid on silent auction items that will be on display in Independence Hall. There will also be a “money machine” for children. Tickets may be purchased at Dairy Queen, the Eagle Mountain branch of First Community Bank and will also be available at the door. Last year about 2,500 people turned out for the event and about $80,000 was raised for John 3:16, making the 2013 Variety Night the best one yet, according to John 3:16 founder Bryan Tuggle. The ministry relies on the generosity of others since it receives no county, state or federal funding to operate. Home to over 100 residents, John 3:16 also offers catering, screen printing, parking lot striping, commercial landscaping and tree trimming services, as well as birthday parties in its indoor playground, to help offset its operation and maintenance costs.
