Enjoy your stay at Jacksonport State Park by attending a few of our scheduled activities. Discover the many wonderfully diverse qualities of Jacksonport by bringing your family, friends and yourself to any of our programs. The activities listed below are free or have a fee if stated. So visit with the park interpreter Matt to experience the park.

Friday, May 16th

6:30pm- Nature Hike- Campground. Join one of Jacksonport’s Interpreter’s for a moderate nature hike on the Tunstall Riverwalk and learn about the natural surroundings of Jacksonport and some of the ways they have formed the town’s history.

Saturday, May 17th

2:00 pm – Arkansas Wildlife – Campground. Arkansas is home to a group of fascinating fur –bearing animals such as beaver, mink and otter. You can discover their unique behaviors and touch the skins of the animals that live in Jackson County. After the program, you can make a wildlife collage to take home.

3:30pm- Snakes of the Alluvial Plain – Campground. Join a park interpreter and learn about the different snakes that live in the Delta region of Arkansas. Learn about some common misconceptions and possibly even get to see and touch a live snake!

6:30pm- Civil War Songs- Campground. A musical telling of the Civil War with the songs that shaped the period of strife. The program covers all the ups and downs of not just famous battles and generals but the everyday citizens that endured the Civil War’s hardship.

Sunday, May 18th

2:00pm – Soda Can Fishing – Boat Launch Area. Don’t have an expensive fishing real? No problem join a park interpreter and learn how to fashion a soda can into a fishing real and learn the importance of keeping things like that soda can out of the environment.

Friday, May 23rd

6:30pm- Nature Hike- Campground. Join one of Jacksonport’s Interpreter’s for a moderate nature hike on the Tunstall Riverwalk and learn about the natural surroundings of Jacksonport and some of the ways they have formed the town’s history.

Saturday, May 24th

2:00 pm – – White River Monster Walk- Campground. Join a park interpreter for a walk along the Tunstall Riverwalk and learn about the history of White River Monster sightings while watching for items that may have been mistaken for this mythical monster in the past.

3:30pm- Civil War Weapons- Campground. Come see a demonstration in black powdered weapons that were used in the Civil War. Join a park interpreter to learn how these weapons were used and fired and who were some of the famous Civil War fighters that used these Confederate Weapons.

6:30pm- Birds of Prey- Campground. Explore the super powers of birds of prey and learn how they survive in the wild and then take a walk to the end of the swim beach to see if there are any around.

Sunday, May 25th

2:00 pm – White River Turtles- Picnic Area. Discover the different turtles found around the White River. See the difference between a water and land turtle by viewing live turtles. Learn proper care and handling of turtles.
