The “Music in the Mountains Show” will return to the stage Saturday night, May 18th, 6:00 p.m. at the Horseshoe Bend Theatre. The May show will bring a variety of talented guests to the stage, to include the phenomenal house band, The Hwy 289 Band to perform and back their guests.

This months’ guests include Izard County Judge David Sherrell. MITM host Melodie Clemmons will join David in a couple of George Jones tunes in tribute, as country music lost the legend recently. The guest line-up includes on backup and vocals Amy Clemmons Brown of Sherwood. Brenda Doty of Horseshoe Bend will be featured gospel songs, Ed Luedke,of Violet Hill on classic country guitar, and Horseshoe Bend resident Martin Smith on harmonica. Cast favorites Ron Hart and Jerry Kipper are among the performers.

This month’s featured guest will be Waylon Collins. Waylon is a Franklin, AR native and now resides in Horseshoe Bend. He has performed on the “Music in the Mountains” stage in the past. More recently, Waylon is experiencing a breakout year in country music. His Facebook, Reverbnation and youtube has over 50,000 fans combined, and he just returned from Nashville where he met with Mike Dungan from UMG and the A and R team at Warner. While in Nashville, Collins also performed the song from his first nationally released single and video, “The Seat” to a room filled with CMT music staff. Collins is produced by Doug Deforest and co-managed by Deforest of Lake Paradise Studio in Cherokee Village. Deforest, no stranger to the Nashville music scene, recently produced Lauren Gray, as well as nine Grammy nominated projects throughout his career. Also in Waylon’s band is bandleader Austin Springfield, son of local steel guitar legend Robby Springfield from Mitchell, Arkansas.

The Hwy 289 Band is pleased to announce there are now “Music in the Mountains” t-shirts available, and will be on sale at the theatre Saturday night.

The hamburger/hot dog grill fires up at 5:00 p.m. Showtime 6:00 p.m. Admission is by donation and concessions are available.
